Week Long Activities to Commemorate Kalinago Week

A week-long of activities has been carded for the people of the Kalinago territory as they celebrate Kalinago week 2013.

A well-developed programme has been organized to highlight cultural activities and awardees who have contributed to the Kalinago’s development.

Kalinago week will commence on the 15th to the 22nd of September, under the theme “Celebrating the lives of the Kalinago People.

Carib Chief, Mr. Garnet Joseph said the activities will be commemorated by a church service on the 15th of September at the Mahaut River church.

The Government of Dominica has contributed greatly to making this event a success.

Two activities were highlighted at the press conference urging members of cabinet to attend, due to its importance.

Other activities include stars talent show on September 15th, Cocktail Awards on September 19th and a sporting activity on September 22nd, among others.

The objective in celebrating the lives of the Kalinago people is to create a sense of identity and pride and to also create awareness on the contribution that they have made over the years.
