Welcome reception held in honor of Miss Jaycees Caribbean 2010 Marcia Baptiste

The Dominica Festivals Committee (DFC) held a welcome reception in honor of Miss Marcia Baptiste, who recently captured the Miss Jaycees Caribbean Queen Title in Antigua, on July 30th, 2010.  She captured the awards for best evening wear and most environmentally-friendly contestant, at the show which is often described as the toughest pageant in the region. Chairman of the Carnival Development Committee Mr. Alwin Bully congratulated Miss Baptiste on her latest achievement.

‘Marcia we take our hats off to you and thank you for making the people of Dominica Proud in the competitions which you have participated in the last few months. Your talent, beauty, poise and grace have all been contributing factors to your success,’ said Mr. Bully.

Chairperson of the Carnival Queen Show Committee, Mrs. Ramoulda Hyacinth thanked Miss Baptiste for making Dominicans proud.

She said ‘Your success is not a matter of idle chance but a matter of making the right choices in life. It is not something you wait for, but rather, something you will achieve with great effort and determination. Once you have the desire, you have the power. Marcia as you go through life’s journey one day hoping to become a Crime Scene Investigator and also as Miss Dominica, Miss Caribbean World, Miss Jaycees Caribbean Queen and you emerged second runner up in the Miss Carival competition, may God continue to bless you.’

Mrs. Hyacinth continued by saying ‘at this point I would like to thank Lime Dominica, Discover Dominica Authority, DFC, CDC, Fort Young Hotel and the AID Bank through Mr. Kingsley Thomas who this morning gave us the assurance that the motorcade will take place and the right vehicle will be used.’

Miss Dominica, Miss Caribbean World and Miss Jaycees Caribbean 2010 Marcia Baptiste extended gratitude to all those who assisted her in one way or another.

‘It is high esteem that I should before you and once again, extending my gratitude first of all to God, secondly to the DDA, DFC, Carnival Queen Show Committee, especially Ramoulda Hyacinth, Ferdina Frampton and Jacqueline Davis without whom I would not have been able to participate in this pageant. I’d also like to thank Elma Aaron, my Head Chaperon, Prince St. Jean, Carlyn Rolle as well as all those who assisted me with my talent, including Nurse Parillon and Tim Durand. To my supporters locally, regionally and internationally; thank you for your payers and support,’ echoed an appreciative Marcia.

Her participation in this pageant followed her recent trip to Nevis where she captured the award for best evening wear, but failed to secure a place in the Miss Caribbean Culture Queen Show.
