Who are the persons charged for the staging of the UWP protest?

According to section three of the Public Order Act, ‘it shall be unlawful for any public procession to take place unless a permit has been issued in respect thereof in accordance with this act.’

Section four (1 and 2) clearly states that ‘applications for public protests must be submitted three days before the intended public procession and should outline the point of departure, route and point of termination as well as the hours by which the procession will take place’.

What remains unknown is whether these laws and regulations were followed when the UWP held their protest on November 29th, 2010, and who are the persons directly responsible?

Acting Chief of Police, Inspector Cyril Carette has announced that charges were filed on January 24th, 2011, against persons responsible for staging that protest, with the case set to be heard on June 6th, 2011.

SAT TV contacted the Opposition Leader, Honorable Hector John who disclosed that to date, none of his UWP colleagues including himself, have received any information regarding that matter.

In the meantime, we will wait and see.
