Why disaster preparedness did not prepare us Dominicans for September 28th 2011.
This is the topic for discussion organized by father franklyn a. Cuffy, parish priest of the st. Anne’s parish which includes the communities of massacre, mahaut, jimmit, and canefield.
Father cuffy explained that this is a crisis which occurred incidentally a few days after world rivers day, and a lot of people in the affected communities are in a state of anxiety and fear.
He said a tour to the badly affected communities after the disaster brought him to tears, and that this is a lesson to be learnt from this devastation.
He stated that we must not underestimate our rivers and need to take them seriously.
Father cuffy said the general public in invited to the discussion, and he is also hoping to see the chairman of the canefield village council present.
