Windward Islands Defeat Barbados by 216 Runs
The Windward Islands defeated Barbados by 216 runs on the third day of their fifth round match in the Regional Four-Day Championship, at Kensington Oval in Barbados on Monday.
The Windward Islands batted first and scored 184 all out. Devon Smith top scored with 40 and Andre Fletcher added 38, while Kenroy Peters aided the total with 25 not out.
Bowling for Barbados, Sulieman Benn took four for 50 and Ashley Nurse finished with four for 63.
In reply, the home team was bundled out for 64.
Kevin Stoute with 33 runs was the only batsman to show some resistance as Shane Shillingford took four for 20. Nelon Pascal claimed three for 29 and Kenroy Peters finished with two for nine.
With a lead of 120 runs on first innings, the visitors declared their second innings on 301 for four.
Devon Smith hit an unbeaten 150 and Dominican Tyron Theophille contributed 91, while Johnson Charles and Andre Fletcher weighed in with 23 runs each.
Set a victory target of 422, Barbados was bowled out for 205, with Shane Shillingford wrecking the batting, taking eight for 82 to finish with match figures of 12 for 102.
For Barbados, Kraigg Braithwaite was unbeaten on 91.
The win helps the Windward Islands maintain their lead at the top of the points standings with 48 points from five matches.
In other fifth round matches played, defending champions Jamaica defeated the Leeward Islands by 170 runs at the Sabina Park in Jamaica.
