WNTP officials to hold consultations to discuss the Management and operation system of the trail

The Project Management Unit of the Waitukubuli National Trail Project (WNTP) will be spearheading two consultations this week as they seek to address issues relating to the management of the trail which is expected to be commissioned in December.

Project Officer at the Waitukubuli National Trail Project who is responsible for product development Mr. Micheal Eugene says implementation activities on the European Union and the Government of Dominica funded Waitukubuli National Trail Project (WNTP) are now in high gear, as they are currently in the process of completing trail works, building and erecting signage, tables, benches, shelters, segment markers, and pedestrian bridges/crossings.

He says parallel with these works, softer activities are also ongoing in the areas of marketing, product development, and management, and it is in this regard that the Project Management Unit will be conducting two (2) stakeholder consultations to plan for the operations of the Waitukubuli National Trail, post project implementation.

He says these two consultations will allow the Project Management Unit to dialogue with tourism stakeholders and community interest groups that are bordering the Waitukubuli National Trail, on the possibilities for operating and managing the Trail, once it becomes operational.

These meetings will be held in Portsmouth at the Credit Union Hall on Thursday April 7th 2011 and in Roseau at the Public Service Training Center (Bay Front) on Friday April 8th 2011.

Both meetings are scheduled to begin at 9:00am.

The Project Management Unit is therefore asking all tourism stakeholders to participate in this important meeting, as their participation and input in this process is very critical.
