World Rotaract Week Comes to a Close
World Rotaract Week came to a close on Sunday March 16th, 2014.
The event, which commemorated on March 10th, is observed annually and is celebrated by Rotaract clubs worldwide.
The week honours the chartering of the very first Rotaract Club in North Carolina, USA, on 13 March 1968 and celebrates the achievements of Rotaract.
The Rotaract club of Roseau too, played its part in the observance of the week, by undertaking activities and projects to coincide with the mottos “Fellowship through Service” and “Service above Self”.
From Tuesday 10th March, Rotaractors took to the radio airwaves to inform the public about its many activities and community service projects.
On World Rotaract Day, March 13th, past Rotaractors, current and prospective members came together and three new members were inducted to the Club.
The highlight of the week was the Club’s visit to Délices on Sunday 16th March 2014, when a hamper was presented to a volunteer representative of the House of Hope – a home for mentally and physically challenged children.
Volunteer at the House, Ms. Marie Alexander remarked that the personnel in charge of the institution were indeed thankful for the donations given and the service rendered, affirming that it was a renewal of the hope for which the institution was named.
