World Tennis Day to Be Launched

To help promote tennis participation around the world, the International Tennis Federation, (ITF) has entered into an agreement with Star Game to launch World Tennis Day, on Monday March 4th 2013.

Mr. Andy Carter, National Coordinator of the junior Tennis initiative Program and coach and Mr. Reginald Shillingford, Sports Analyst and coach are both responsible for the launching of World Tennis Day in Dominica.

They are urging interested person to come to the Grammar School at 2:30 pm on Monday to participate in a series of activities.

It is their aim to assist students by getting them involved in Tennis with a vision of developing them to the highest level.

Mr. Carter informed us that the World Tennis Day is not a competition; it is just an opportunity for individuals, especially students who have an interest and desire for the sport, to showcase talents as well as learn what the sport is about.

This is what Mr. Shillingford had to say in regards to the age range of participants.

Mr. Shillingford emphasized on the plans that the association has for its participants. He said continued sessions will be provided at the Dominica Grammar School, subsequently to World Tennis Day.

He hopes that the game will expand to other schools, if the interest and passion, is shown by the students.

Mr. Carter added that the parents should make an effort to be present during the activities.

Both Gentlemen are encouraging and inviting everyone to come out to support the sport on Monday and for those who are wondering, there are no registration fees to be paid for the activities.

Mr. Shillingford added, even if it rains people should still come, the rain should not deter anyone.
